KIAMBU COUNTY BUSINESS COMMUNITY is an association of business owners, companies, corporate and general resident in Kiambu County.

As the whole world join hand to fight against climate change, KICBICOM is going to be in forefront in implementing projects that are geared towards fighting climate change in Kenya and especially Kiambu county
Kiambu county is a investment hub in Kenya and if we don't tackle the issue of environment by 2050 kiambu is at high threat due to air and water pollution and all sort of pollution due to high GHG and CO2 emission by industries and human activities.

Kiambu is a dormitory zone to the overstretched Nairobi County, as many of its inhabitants; prefer to seek accommodation in the affordable urban centers located within Kiambu, and therefore commute to Nairobi daily. This has spelt a boom to Kiambu’s property prices and residential investments over the years. Moreover, many residential estates are now emerging at a fast rate just off the Thika Super Highway. Aside from Thika town, which commands a major residential periphery, Ruiru, Kiambu, Ruaka and Kikuyu towns are all arguably Nairobi’s unsung locations for prime residential estates in the county. Good security, physical and social infrastructure, is just but the few incentives that give these premium properties impetus as excellent sources of revenue and living. Looking at the current mega projects that are currently in place, it’s clearly that Kiambu county environment is at risk. It’s for this reason that as the population continue to increase in the county the more risky in term of environment.

What we do.

1. Networking
   KICBICOM  brings all industries together as follows individuals ,SME, hotels ,Banks ,insurance companies ,real estate & construction companies, tourism sector ,NGOs ,Embassies, investment companies, manufacturing companies, CEOs of private sectors, agribusiness companies, financial institutions, commercial industry .Malls ,supermarkets, hospitals, school institute, universities .transport sector among others.
             Our objective in Networking 
   1.Identify common problems that are affect business operations at large and posing Environmental threat to entire community
   2.Networking with other business owner in kiambu and outside and borrowing other method that we can replicate in Kiambu County in fighting climate change 
   3.Creating business opportunities and possible partnership among our members
   4. Creating a peaceful environment for investors and business operations.
   5. helping companies achieve CSR role.
   6. Events. Our members are invited for events do display their products and services.
   7. Newsletter.
   Our members have advantage of being featured in our news letter quarterly.
   That will be distributed to all members and new terminals for public collection .like supermarkets and libraries.
   8. Connecting public to our members.
   In case a company has vacancies, KICBICOM will advertise the job positions on it website and act on behalf of our members if mandates to do so.
   9. Government intervention.-KICBICOM will hold regular meeting with county government to create good relationship with business people and vice versa and there on come 
2. CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (CSR)
   KICBICOM  helps our companies achieve CSR
   Through our members, we shall be able to Channel companies social responsibility to the community. This may be road improvements, street lighting, children orphanage, tree planting, street cleaning and visiting less privileged community.
3. Climate Change mitigation to Fight Poverty
   KICBICOM will established bee keeping project in collaboration with Kenya forest service and other partners
   Youth will be engaged in honey processing and other products from BEES like wax. By doing so youth will be responsible for environment protection therefore driving economical benefit from the environment is the only way out to fight climate and environmental protection. This will help people in financial problems and there after offer available alternative for financial breakeven In the community
   Current situation of drunken youths in kiambu have been so shameful, we came up with initiative to empower and restore hope in them.
   More so to prevent more youth from entering the drinking trend after school

Run for environment is an initiative that will be used to create awareness about environment to the public of Kiambu County, the initiative will enhance the county objectives for kiambu go-green initiative

4. Dumping site and recycle of waste materials

Waste materials from the industries are another threat to Kiambu County, as the industries are emerging in the county we expect waste materials to increase. If this issue is not tackled and addressed as early as now we are going to put Kiambu County at very high risk for residents and business people just like Dondora dumping site.

We urge manufacturing industries to make use of recycling of waste materials.
This will be achieved through youth groups for garbage disposal initiative and then taking recyclable materials back to the industries.
Plastic bags- KICBICOM shall urge all supermarkets in Kiambu County to adopt use of recyclable basket bags to minimize environment pollution instead of the current paper they use
KICBICOM is going to put up strategies on how to utilize waste materials like food stuff to  feed pigs that will be youth initiatives .

5. Water pollution

What pollution. As the number of commercial building increases they affect water down flow and thus causing contamination which our live stock depending on. It have caused a lot of side effects not only to live stock but also to human kind in kiambu. We need to reset our river as it was years back so as to maintain the quadrant live.

6. FIGHTING CRIME
   KICBICOM will engage youth on fighting crime and this will be achieved through investing on them and education programs on crime
7. DRUG AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE
   Kiambu county have been mentioned for long in the media for being hub for Alcoholic  and drug abuse until His Excellence President Uhuru Kenyatta intervened and called for cluck down on alcohol.
   After that kiambu haven't yet healed the woods for drug and that why KICBICOM will carry out education and mentoring programs on youth and entrepreneurship 
   Working closely with county government and other partners we will be able to bring together youth groups and take them through entrepreneurship course to equip them to be able to run an enterprise.
   After rehabilitation most of them are going back to their normal life because they do not have anything to do. Thus KICBICOM will be able to tap this gap and help them established income generating business, like bee keeping.

KICBICOM will urge it members to adapt environmental friendly material and buildings (GREEN BUILDING) like bamboo.
Carbon dioxide emissions due to the current establishments of industries in the county and population increase and more transportation movement, we expect also GHG and C02 emission to increase in the atmosphere. This is a great challenge to climate change.

KICBICOM will plant trees in the county for natural CO2 reduction. This will be achieved through our member’s collaboration and youth initiatives programs.

Cutting down trees is another threat.

KICBICOM is going to work very closely with county government to ensure that everyone is responsible for environment conservation to create a friendly environment for business and residents of Kiambu County. it will carry out education program on to empower youth and delivering economic benefit from environment thus fighting poverty.

Firewood -this is also a big challenge in the county as most people in the rural are cutting down the trees for fire wood. We are going to partner with solar companies and energy saving cooking methods initiative. So that residents do not waste time and resources on fire woods fetching.
Alternative we introduce bio gas stations in the community.
This will be achieved through financial institutions in kiambu country and other partners.

It’s for this regards that KICBICOM have identified that companies CSR synergy can have great impact on environment and well being of Kiambu county residents and the entire country.
